Habitat

Big Springs Shooting Complex is also a license hunting preserve and has excellent habitat for pheasants. Fifty acres of Big Springs Shooting Complex is first generation, big blue stem which is harvested annually. The remainder of area is planted with native prairie grasses and flowers. Due to the excellent habitat, Big Springs Shooting Complex is the home base for the Iowa Chapter of North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association. Several dog trials are held each year at the facility.
